SPORTS ORTHOTIC SYSTEM
Do you have chronic knee pain, shin splints or other joint related problems?
You could benefit from custom fit sports orthotics available at Dr. Wendell Becton’s office. The orthotic system utilized is called Foot Tech. After making an appointment with Dr. Becton’s office you will be examined by trained professionals to see if you could benefit from the use of the custom fit orthotics. Once your need for orthotics has been determined, the orthotic blanks are directly molded to your foot, using the suspension-molding stand, as seen in the top left picture. Technicians can easily add components to provide the ability to functionally position the orthotic as well as determine the amount of rigidity the device will provide.
These components are configured using our grinder to provide modifications for your specific foot needs, as seen in the top right picture. Once the process is complete you are given “wearing” instructions and can begin wearing the orthotics every day.
In a few days, you can even wear the orthotics during exercise!
CUSTOM FITTING BRACES
Braces are sometimes needed after an injury. Even after an injury is properly healed and rehabilitated, functional braces are sometimes necessary or can aide in safe return to sport or activity. In Dr. Becton’s office we provide all custom fit braces available for a variety of injury needs. From ankle braces for the injury prone basketball player, to knee braces for the post-surgical ACL patients, we offer numerous braces and can accurately measure you for the perfect fit.
Measurements are taken by qualified professionals for a variety of custom fit braces. After measurements are taken, braces are made to your exact fit. Braces arrive in just a few days.
X-RAY and CASTING
On site x-ray capability if fracture is suspected
If a fracture is suspected during your appointment with Dr. Becton, we have the on-site capability of taking x-rays. When a fracture is detected we will also provide the necessary follow-up care, including casting and rehabilitation guidelines.
SPECIALIZED ACL TESTING
ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tears in the knee is a common debilitating injury.
ACL or anterior cruciate ligament tears in the knee are one of the most common debilitating injuries that plagues active people today. Sometimes, even after an MRI, the integrity of the ACL cannot be determined. The patient is confronted with a few options, rehabilitation, a surgical scope procedure, or KT1000 testing. The KT1000 is a specifically designed device to determine the integrity of the ACL. This device takes specific measurements to determine the amount of ACL laxity that may be present. The test is non-invasive and usually causes little to no discomfort to the patient. Dr. Becton is the only physician in Decatur to offer this type of service to his patients. If you are experiencing knee pain and your knee has been “giving out” and/or “feels loose” during activity, call Dr. Becton for an appointment today.
