Our Pillars of Excellence
Dear Friends,
During Decatur Memorial Hospital's first 50 years, four massive granite pillars graced our entrance. From the day we opened our doors on Jan. 1, 1916, until 1966, these historic 25 foot high pillars stood as majestic symbols of strength and durability. These historic structures have become permanent symbols of our hospital's proud service and enduring heritage. Today, each pillar symbolizes a different significant attribute of our culture: People, Quality, Service, and Finance - our Pillars of Excellence.
