Decatur Memorial Hospital Awarded Distinguished 2006 Lincoln Silver Award

Decatur Memorial Hospital is the recipient of the 2006 Lincoln Silver Award for Progress Towards Excellence for demonstrating sound and notable continuous improvement processes. The award is being received from the Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence. Decatur Memorial Hospital will be one of nine recipients honored at a recognition ceremony Dec. 6 at Tellabs, Inc., in Naperville, Ill.

Decatur Memorial Hospital has been transformed from a one-building facility known then in the community as Decatur and Macon County Hospital, to a multi-service medical complex offering the latest in healthcare diagnostic and treatment modalities. Macon County’s only cardiac interventional and surgery program can be found at Decatur Memorial Hospital as well as a sophisticated radiology service and a research-based clinical oncology program. Decatur Memorial Hospital is the county’s third largest employer with 2,463 employees and 44 employed physicians. The employed physicians make up the largest multi-specialty group in Decatur; an additional 225 medical staff members are independent practitioners.
