DMH Welcomes New Doctors

Diagnostic Radiologist Baron S. Adkins, DO, has joined the DMH Medical Staff. Originally from Rochester, Michigan, Dr. Adkins recently completed a breast imaging fellowship at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. In 1999, he completed a Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. In 1995, he received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern University, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Family Practitioner Rohn Allega, MD, has joined Doctors Family Practice located at 2975 N. Water St., Decatur. A native of Midland, Texas, Dr. Allega completed a Family Practice residency at the University of Texas, Houston, in 1989. In 1986 he earned a medical degree from the University of Texas Health and Science College, San Antonio. Doctors Family Practice is open weekdays 7 a.m.—8 p.m., and weekends 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Internist Ahmed Elrakhawy, MD, has joined the DMH Medical Staff. Dr. Elrakhawy completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Mercy Hospital, State University of New York at Buffalo in 1999. He received a medical degree from Tanta University, Tanta, Egypt, in 1979. Originally from Tanta, Egypt, Dr. Elrakhawy specializes in treating adults with a focus on wellness. Internist Amir Torshizi, MD, has joined the DMH Medical Staff. He recently completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City. He received a medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran, in 1996. Orginally from Tehran, Dr. Torshizi specializes in treating adults with a focus on wellness. Rehabilitation Neuropsychologist Karen Lee, PsyD, has joined the DMH Rehabilitation Center. She completed a Post-Doctoral Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship in 1991 at Forest Family Clinic in conjunction with St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. She received a doctorate degree in clinical psychology in 1990, from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, Mo. She received a master of education in counseling in 1986 from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. Dr. Lee is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology and learning disabilities. Her office is located in Kenwood Medical Center, 102 W. Kenwood Ave., Decatur. Family Practitioner Cynthia Shropshire, DO, has joined the DMH Medical Staff. In 2002, she completed a family practice residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria. In 1999, Dr. Shropshire completed a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern University, Downers Grove, Illinois. Interventional Radiologist Howard Wiarda, MD, has joined the DMH Interventional Radiology Institute. He completed a Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship in 2000, a Diagnostic Radiology Residency in 1999 and received a doctor of medicine degree in 1994, all at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Debapriya De, MD, who recently completed an Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. He received a medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi, India, in 2001.
