Pre/Post Natal Aerobics, July 1-31, Mondays & Wednesdays (Land Aerobics), 6:40-7:40pm or Tuesdays & Thursdays (Water Aerobics), 5:30-6:15pm, YMCA. These pre- and post-natal exercise classes focus on strengthening muscles that often get weak in pregnancy and stretching muscles that get tight as a pregnant woman's posture changes. Cardiac Rehab Orientation, July 1 – July 31, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-3pm, FREE, DMH Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. This orientation is for the Cardiac Rehabilitation program and requires a physician referral. For more information, call 876-2496.

Geriatric Assessment Clinic, July 1-29, Tuesdays, 12:30-4:30pm, Kenwood Medical Building. The DMH Geriatric Assessment Center has a team of professionals to help families identify concerns about caring for aging family members and future living arrangements. A medical doctor handles a verbal assessment and performs a complete physical, including lab work or x-ray services, if needed. Then, patients are evaluated by a neuropsychologist. A gerontological certified nurse is always present during the assessments, which can last between one and one-and-a-half hours. Additional testing may be suggested and an appointment scheduled. Prepared Childbirth Classes, fifth series, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 7pm. FREE, DMH Classrooms off the Barnes Lobby. Five week series of classes, for women seven to eight months pregnant, addressing labor and delivery process, pain management methods, breathing and relaxation techniques, taking care of mom after delivery, taking care of baby and breast feeding. Family Birth Center Tour, July 3, 7-8:30pm, FREE, meet in Kirkland Lobby. Everything you need to know to plan for your hospital stay, from understanding the admission process and reserving premier birthing suites, to touring the labor rooms and descriptions of tests your physician may order. Screenings include a Total Lipid Panel (which includes a total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), and Glucose screenings for blood sugar. Fasting is necessary for 10-12 hours.
